Lenovo ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station (40B00135)
The Lenovo ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station (40B00135) is a high-performance business docking solution designed for ThinkPad, Lenovo and compatible non-Lenovo systems with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4 or supported USB-C connectivity. Lenovo officially identifies this dock as the ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock, Type 40B0, with a 40Gbps Thunderbolt 4 interface, powerful multi-monitor support, Gigabit Ethernet, high-speed USB expansion and up to 100W dynamic laptop charging.
It is particularly suitable for office workstations, professional multi-monitor setups, developers, content creators and enterprise environments where one cable needs to handle display, data, networking, audio and laptop power.
Thunderbolt 4 with Up to 40Gbps Bandwidth
The dock uses Thunderbolt 4 as its primary host interface, offering up to 40Gbps theoretical connection bandwidth on a compatible Thunderbolt 4 host.
This single-cable connection can carry:
-
Display output
-
USB data
-
Network traffic
-
Audio
-
Laptop charging
Actual performance depends on the connected system and available host bandwidth.
Up to 8K at 30Hz Display Output
Lenovo officially lists support for one display up to 8K@30Hz in compatible configurations. The dock includes HDMI 2.1, which Lenovo specifically references for 8K30 output.
This makes the dock suitable for:
-
High-resolution professional displays
-
Large productivity monitors
-
Creative work
-
Data visualization
-
Advanced office workstations
Up to Four 4K at 60Hz Displays
For users who need multiple monitors, Lenovo states that the dock can support up to four 4K@60Hz external displays with compatible host systems and display configurations.
The exact number of displays and supported resolutions depend on:
-
Host GPU capability
-
Thunderbolt/USB-C implementation
-
Display connection type
-
Operating system
-
Display bandwidth requirements
HDMI 2.1 + Dual DisplayPort 1.4
The ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock provides:
-
1 × HDMI 2.1
-
2 × DisplayPort 1.4
-
1 × Thunderbolt 4 downstream port that can also support compatible display devices.
This gives users flexible display connectivity for HDMI, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt/USB-C monitors.
Up to 100W Dynamic Laptop Charging
Lenovo includes a 135W Slim Tip AC adapter with the dock and supports up to 100W Dynamic Power Charging to a compatible laptop.
This allows many supported notebooks to operate and charge from the same Thunderbolt cable used for displays and data.
Actual laptop charging power depends on the host device and its supported power profile.
Four High-Speed USB-A Ports
The dock includes 4 × USB 3.2 Gen 2 / USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, with one supporting always-on functionality. Lenovo rates these ports for 10Gbps-class USB connectivity.
They can be used with:
-
External SSDs
-
USB flash drives
-
Keyboards
-
Mice
-
Webcams
-
Printers
-
Other USB peripherals
USB-C 10Gbps Port
A dedicated USB-C port supports up to 10Gbps data transfer and up to 5V/3A output for compatible devices.
Thunderbolt 4 Downstream Port
In addition to the host Thunderbolt 4 connection, the dock provides a downstream Thunderbolt 4 port for compatible storage, displays and other Thunderbolt peripherals.
This can be useful for:
-
Thunderbolt SSDs
-
USB-C displays
-
Thunderbolt monitors
-
High-speed peripherals
Gigabit Ethernet
The built-in RJ45 port supports Gigabit Ethernet. Lenovo also lists enterprise networking functions such as:

These features are especially useful in managed office and enterprise environments.
3.5mm Combo Audio Jack
The dock includes a 3.5mm headset/microphone combo audio jack, allowing headphones or headsets to connect directly to the workstation dock.
Intel vPro Support
Lenovo lists Intel vPro functionality support on compatible systems. Lenovo notes that specific vPro/AMT capability depends on supported Intel vPro PCs.
Lenovo Dock Manager Support
The dock works with Lenovo Dock Manager, allowing administrators to manage firmware and dock-related updates more easily in supported enterprise environments.

Important Part Number Note
40B00135 is the base family number. The final suffix varies by region.
Lenovo lists 40B00135AE among the regional SKUs covering Bangladesh and several Asia-Pacific markets.
So if your physical box says 40B00135AE, that is fully consistent with the official Bangladesh/Asia regional variant.
Important Display Note
The dock can support up to 8K@30Hz or up to four 4K@60Hz displays, but this is not guaranteed with every laptop. Display capability depends on the host GPU, Thunderbolt/USB-C implementation and available display bandwidth.
Important Charging Note
The dock comes with a 135W AC adapter, but maximum laptop charging is up to 100W.
Do not list this as “135W laptop charging.”
Important USB-C Compatibility Note
Not every USB-C laptop will provide full Thunderbolt 4 features. Lenovo states that USB-C hosts must support the required industry-standard USB-C Alt Mode or Thunderbolt functionality through the Type-C port.
Warranty Note
Lenovo officially lists a 1-year warranty for the ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock.
For Gadget & Tech, publish the exact local warranty according to your supplier if Bangladesh distributor coverage differs.
