UGREEN CM300 (70498) 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

UGREEN CM300 (70498) 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

The UGREEN CM300 (70498) 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure is a compact external drive case designed to convert a standard 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD into portable USB storage. UGREEN’s exact 70498 listing confirms support for 2.5-inch SATA I/II/III drives up to 9.5mm thick, an aluminum housing, USB-C enclosure interface, and up to 6TB storage capacity.

It is suitable for backup, data migration, external SSD storage, reusing old laptop drives, file transfer, media storage and general portable storage use.

Supports 2.5-Inch SATA HDD and SSD

The CM300 supports standard 2.5-inch SATA HDDs and SSDs with a maximum thickness of approximately 9.5mm.

Supported drive types include:

• SATA I HDD/SSD
• SATA II HDD/SSD
• SATA III HDD/SSD
• 7mm drives
• 9.5mm drives

It does not support M.2 NVMe, M.2 SATA, mSATA, IDE/PATA or 3.5-inch drives.

USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 Interface

The enclosure uses a USB-C female port and a USB 3.1 Gen 2-capable bridge. The supplied cable is a USB-C to USB-A cable, approximately 50cm long.

This gives convenient compatibility with standard computers while keeping the enclosure itself USB-C based.

SATA III up to 6Gbps

The installed drive communicates over SATA III, which has a theoretical data-path limit of up to 6Gbps. UGREEN’s exact 70498 page explicitly separates this SATA limitation from the faster USB host-side interface.

That means the product should not be marketed as delivering a guaranteed 10Gbps real-world storage speed.

ASM235CM Controller

The exact UGREEN 70498 product material identifies the internal bridge controller as ASM235CM.

This controller converts the SATA drive interface to USB mass storage for use with compatible computers and other supported hosts.

UASP Support

The CM300 supports UASP, helping improve USB storage efficiency on compatible operating systems and host controllers.

Actual performance still depends on the installed SSD or HDD and the connected computer.

TRIM and S.M.A.R.T Support

Exact-model Bangladesh listings specify support for:

• TRIM
• S.M.A.R.T
• UASP
• Intelligent power-saving / auto sleep

These features can help improve SSD management and provide drive-health information where supported by the operating system.

Tool-Free Installation

The enclosure is designed for tool-free drive installation, so users can install or replace a compatible 2.5-inch SATA drive without repeatedly using a screwdriver.

This makes it convenient for technicians and users who regularly swap drives.

Aluminum Alloy Housing

UGREEN confirms an aluminum-alloy outer shell, which helps provide structural strength and assists with heat dissipation during extended transfers.

The aluminum body does not make the enclosure waterproof, shockproof or drop-proof.

Up to 6TB Capacity

The exact UGREEN 70498 listing supports drives up to 6TB.

This provides plenty of space for:

• Backup files
• Photos
• Videos
• Documents
• Game storage
• Media libraries
• Archived projects

Important Speed Note

This is the most important point for the product page:

USB 3.1 Gen 2 does not mean the installed SATA drive will transfer at 10Gbps.

The internal storage interface is SATA III up to 6Gbps theoretical, and real-world speeds are lower. Mechanical HDDs will be much slower than SATA SSDs.

The safest wording is:

Host Interface: USB 3.1 Gen 2
SATA Data Path: Up to 6Gbps
Actual Speed: Depends on drive, host and workload

Important Compatibility Note

The CM300 supports 2.5-inch SATA drives only.

It does not support:

• M.2 NVMe
• M.2 SATA
• mSATA
• 3.5-inch SATA drives
• IDE/PATA drives

Important Capacity Note

For this exact CM300 / 70498, UGREEN’s current exact listing confirms up to 6TB.

Avoid mixing the larger capacity specifications of other UGREEN enclosure models into this listing.
